The reason I ran my specfic choices. Umm. There was no reason. I ran ten laps on each track with each class. I posted the times I felt were really good.

The D car just reacted alot better with the larger slip angles and getting back to some of the gas (slightly) faster at Sunset. I'm pretty fast there. I just couldn't get it to heed my will at Atlanta. But the one direction turns of Sunset would help D Class.

Atlanta has the fast turn one and the turn at the end of the esses. Both leading to significant straights. That sets up a handing need as much as power for the two big launching pads.

Sebring, my thought process was the first and last turns. You know the bumpy ones, needed more grip so you could carry more speed and not upset the rear traction too much. The DOT's recover pretty well from spinning the tires. And while being long, but not having a huge straight, it would be better for accel. Where the B Class is really good.

The real surprise its that most of the cars have about the same HP just more or less tire/weight.

Update: I have been trying the Challenger. I do not like. While the handling is better, I don't have a distinct handling track (like Alpine Hills from FM1) that would suit it well. At D/Sunset almost a full second behind the 'Bird. And the same for C/Atlanta.

I'm going back to perfect the Shelby. And see if I can beat the Bird.

The Shelby shows it earns its rally stripes. ???    Still No.1 in my garage

Shelby GT-500 KR
Sunset  D  102.337
Sebring  B  134.796

New total 328.907

Didn't have the patience to rerun Atlanta for C Class. Wanted to move on to something new. But I am surprised at how well the 'Bird proved itself. :)       Much better than the Challenger :(

Allright, let's shut 'er down.  I'll get the LB up after a while.  Thanks for running this, guys.

Leaderboard is finished.

Again, thanks for running what turned out to be a very time-consuming challenge.  I decided against a twist once I figured out that not everyone keeps multiple copies of all the muscle-inc cars built and ready to go.  Turns out I even overestimated how many of them I had ready to go.  We did learn something, though.  This challenge was born of a bit of my curiosity when I noticed that my D-class and B-class mustangs had the same top speed rating.  I wondered how close one could get to another on the various power tracks.  I suspected that grip would matter more on some tracks than others.  I can't record a PB in a missile on Sebring short, but it's hard NOT to do so at Sunset, thanks to the huge oval section, making hp king on that track.  Seems my suspicion was basically correct, though I was wrong about Road Atlanta's need for grip making it the B-class choice.  I like Spiny's explanation that the longer courses mean more turns that will impact the laptime.  Again, thanks to all, and if you have any other thoughts or comments, I'd love to hear them.

And don't worry, I won't be running anything this complicated in the future.  I think the other thing I learned is that a good challenge is one that can be a fairly brief undertaking.  This one fell well short (or long???) there.  And now we're on to LMMS, right?
