What's next?
« on: October 10, 2008, 07:59:46 AM »
I don't know if anyone is running all the challenges now but just thought I would throw some in for consideration.

Silverstone Triple Treat - Run each of the three Silverstone tracks at B(or A) class and add up the total time with the lowest being the winner.  The only catch is you have to run a different car at each track and you can only have 1 FF, 1 FR and 1 of the rest (FA, RA, MA, MR, RR).

TTR3 - Running three reverse test tracks, lowest total time wins.  Running A B class at Copperhead R, A class at Inland Taipan R &  S Class at Death Adder R. (tracks only a suggestion)

A Class Professional - Run the whole of A class Professional with one car and one setup (excpet FD gear change allowed), again lowest total time wins.

Whatcha think?  Quite happy to run any of them if you like the sounds of any?

You got me.

I do have one, but it's a month long kind of a deal. With finale races going on each weekend. I was waiting until the holidays were over to start it.

Did I mention prizes too?

Ooh, prizes..  ;D

I had a TT spec idea at Silverstone based around the comment on top gear that the Miata is the "best british sportscar Japan ever made."  I'd really rather see someone run an M-Inc spec, though.

Surely there's SOMETHING we haven't tried yet...  :-\

I'll think about this and post up if I come up with anything
It is highly likely that the above post was produced with a drippy jowl.

How about something with all the RX-7's?  We seem to be on a rotary kick around here lately.

I think a C-class M-inc challange would be good, I just got sent over another '68 Shelby GT500 that I 'd like to try out in C...

For something different in a challange how about running the Laguna Seca C-class enduro?

If thats too long I think Rd America / Suzuka / Silverstone could be a good combination...

Laguna Seca in C sounds good.  The enduro is problematic, though, because of the time involved.  We ran into a similar issue with the LMMS challenge on the 'ring and my multiclass challenge last month.  Time-consuming challenges generally mean low turnout.  I do like the idea of using the enduro track for the challenge in a given class, though.  It makes it pretty easy to recoup the costs of building out the cars.

There was an Enduro Challange over at Exodus a little while back running the D-class Tsukuba enduro that was cool...

Hopefully the high prize money for the race itself should get people interested and as you say make it easier to offset the build costs of the cars and I'd be willing to put up some prize money for a Livery and / or Photo-Mode side compatition as well...

Probably be best if it ran for longer than a week too to give people chance to tune / race / paint / take photos...

The alternative tracks of Rd America, Suzuka and Silverstone I think will be good as you need power for them, but a good lap time requires a good handling car also on all these tracks...

I'm with you on Suzuka and Silverstone. Road America...well...that's pretty much the missile-y-est of the missile tracks.

I really like a standard challenge on Seca, though.

I was also kicking around the idea of a Bond tribute challenge with Aston Martins, but that should wait til after our M-Inc challenge is done. Yeah, I'm on a british car kick lately.

Also if we do go with the Laguna Enduro, we include a hot lap leaderboard for people that don't have time to run the full enduro race...  throw in the Livery and Photo comps and I think we got an interesting challange with something for everyone...

Hm....that might be more workable.  Something tells me that an unofficial competition would grow up around the enduro anyway.  Putting a leaderboard with it isn't really a terrible idea, I guess.  I'm sold on this if others are.

I only mean our usual kind of Leaderboard we have on all the challanges, just have one for the enduro, one for hotlaps...

That's what I was assuming.  Separate leaderboards seem fine.  We've certainly had more logistically difficult challenges succeed (look at the first D-class S^4 challenge).
