E-Type build 1.0 posted. There are still some things to be ironed out, like the transmission and the final aero settings. I haven't touched tire pressures and I'm just not sure that I need to. I consider this tune a great start, especially if you like starting out with more than enough grip, and then backing it off to add power.

Feel free to use and abuse. I am sort of curious what kind of time it can run around Mugello, since I've spent so much time there in the Dino. So far it's running 2 minutes flat for me with more time to be had.

Man, I love it!!  Thanks alot Lee...

But even more than the car, thanks for... I guess the "recognition".  It is good to know that what I can contribute to the Forum, to the Game, is valuable and of use to folks.  That is pretty important to me, and I think anyone... to know that your contribution is helpful and appreciated.

You made my night Sir...

And I love the car...

I just took it straight up, without touching a thing and went and ran my best time ever for a B class car on Maple Valley Short - a 40.480 which is a top 1000 time.

I'd say you have the suspension nailed, son!!

I wound up building out what I call a 'test mule', which is a car with all available upgrades purchased. I then started moving the pieces around, watching benchmarks, checking ratings and testing, testing, testing. When I was finally happy with the results I went to write down my upgrade list and noticed that it was basically tires and a wing.

go figure.

yeah, noticed the power hadnt gone up - but i suppose the strength of the jag is it starts off with good power.
be interesting to see what BMC has done for the ALS, 1.53 is great time.

i like the way the black colour scheme kinda blends the rear wing in, v. neat.

yeah, I couldn't get rid of it, so I just tried to make it stick out less. Black is your friend.

I'm very curious as to what other approaches have been taken in tuning this thing. This is not my first attempt at tuning the big cat. I have created a stable and predictable platform before, it just wasn't fast enough to keep up with my other classics. I even payed that RAYBRIG outfit (Hellbr1ng3r) to take a swing at it. While his setup was great fun to slide around the short tracks in, it just couldn't keep up either. This time I'm much closer.

Can't wait to try it with some Pirelli or Yoko racing slicks and a little more powahh for A Class. I can also go to a 215 tire width. The settings should adjust themselves up just fine(exception: gears). I may try an engine swap to lose another 175 lbs. Look out Dino!

Looks like a 1:53.3 will put the Dino in the lead! There is a chance that Serial is building one, as well. I don't think you have much to worry about. ;D

Wow, sharp paint job!  Looks great on the E-Type!

Mine has slicks, full weight reduction, no wing, and as much power as I could fit on the thing.  I think it was around 360HP?  With the V8 swap, if I remember correctly?

The car I built feels a lot like my Chargers or Chevelles; a skittish back end, with more power than you can immediately use.  Rolling into the throttle is the name of the game, here.  If you make even the slightest mistake on corner exit the tires spin and you have to back out to keep the rear from swinging around, but if you can modulate the throttle perfectly it takes off like a rocket.  Running a fast lap is an exercise in throttle control.

I don't have my tune in front of me, but at first glance I'm thinking mine is pretty similar to his.  My overall ARB/spring/damper numbers are notably higher, but I think I have about the same balance.  I know I'm running more camber than him (-1.2/-1.2?), I run my usual 45% front brake bias, and my diff is more open (50/20?  40/30?  I forget).

If you guys want the numbers I'll post it tonight, but the car is far from perfect.  It's loose overall, and it gets REALLY loose if you aren't careful on the gas.  I imagine a more precise driver could easily trim a second off my time.  Heck, I think I could trim a second off my time from last night... I drove my 911 after tuning this Jag and was a full second off my usual pace.  I guess that headache affected me more than I realized.
Don't make me go get my Bentley Hummer!

i tried running it many variants (at 850) without the wing and i was slower, i guessed at the time - i didnt have the throttle control or the right lines ;)

Build for Maple Short Reverse

Upgrades (same as 1.0 except as follows)
215 tire width
Front Wing
Stock Wheels
18" wheel size
Michelin Race Tires

Settings:

MIN front downforce
MAX rear downforce

!ALL OTHER SETTINGS DEFAULT!

Some of you may have an idea how frustrating it is for me to beat my tuned car with a default build, but IMHO, the amount of grip is hiding flaws that become more apparent when you're trying for a more balanced build than this one. I haven't tried it on a longer track, but I suspect it will suffer above 100mph
