DLC Pack #2
« on: September 19, 2007, 03:37:05 PM »
There has been an announcement on the new DLC, slated for the end of September, on gamespot.com.  I (for some strange reason) can't copy it over...

It'll cost 400 MS points, and they list out the confirmed cars
It is highly likely that the above post was produced with a drippy jowl.

tracks sounds like they are a few months off .. 3-5 months to build, and they started when they started building the nissan pack,
another 3 months?

Hmmmm, 3 to 5 months development time for tracks and they started on them about the same time that they started on the Nissan carpak... that should put a DLC trackpack release estimate around December maybe.....

At one point Dan Greenawalt said all the tracks in FM1 would be in FM2.  Since Alpine Ring and other original tracks exist only as code I would think the effort to port these to FM2 would be rather straight forward and not take nearly as long as mapping out new real world tracks.  Overall I'm disappointed tracks are still some ways off, I have plenty of cars I've never driven to keep me occupied but the same tracks are getting boring.   I also find it disappointing to hear about this first from a third party site and not the official community site.

When they announced the original car list and the new Civic Si wasn't on it, I knew they were going to milk the new cars for DLC. Dollars to donuts the cars were ready for the game's release date. Its seems like it was Forza 1.5. Throw in a few token new cars and let them pay for the rest.

Hoplee you got another classic to play with. Just wondering how high the PI is going to be for the original MR supercar.

As far as the tracks go, I can see the remap in Nurburg. FM1 was cold and grey winter. FM2 has life in the trees. I can figure the remap of the real tracks and NY to update the building facades and to sell all that advertising real estate.

I'm only excited about the Skye and the Lambo's.  The Muira's will be the only 'Ghini's I have.  Not a big fan of the Gallardo's and Murcielago's.  (Or S-class)  Mopars have always been a b@stard child to a GM purist but I'm working through that now.

Tracks are neither here nor there to me.  I'd like to see Alpine Ring again but it is very similar to Suzuka if you think about it.  I hated Road America, too many high speed turns and not too technical unless you were in a really fast car.  Online though most poor handling cars could wipe up the field with enough HP.  Give me a narrow track like Mosport or Mid-Ohio where you have to plan a pass and not just take one wherever.  La Sarthe will be fun but Infineon would be better (for me).  Don't light the flamethrower but If your gonna have a superspeedway there should be a highbanked 1/2 miler as well.

Add all the content you want I'm struggling with whats already there.
Go sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here.

over at FM2, 2 pieces of potentially good news from Che:

i) you will get one free car with the DLC       (think that was also case with PGR3, and T10 will not sell cars individually)
ii) "tracks will come sooner than you think"   (so hopefully, its gonna be on the short end of the 3-5 mths dev, around PGR4 time ;) )

The miura concept is another one of those 'imaginary cars' that will never see production. I think it's kinda silly to include it, but it is a sharp looking car, for a fake. Will be nice to see the challenger again, too bad they're not doing the Cuda variant of the E-Body.

I stand by my earlier statement:

Fiero for DLC!

The Challenger's stats are:

D377
Speed 4.6
Acceleration 4.0
Braking 3.3
Handling 3.2
Rarity 6.6
425HP
490TQ
3800lbs
WB 57%

You can swap in a 540ci V8 and an 8.3L V10.  Both make the car over 100lbs lighter.  The car can take a rear wing, but no other aero.  The biggest tires that will fit are 275's all around.

Am I the first kid on the block with one of these?  ;D

Edit: Just took it for a couple laps around Silverstone, stock.  Wicked engine sound!  Preliminary opinion, it's a nice controllable car.  The back end will pop out a bit on you, but it's really easy to feel, and easy to catch.  Feels like it might slot in somewhere with the Mustang or Camaro SS... not sure yet.  It DEFINITELY needs some lower profile tires to get rid of all this squirm.

Time to go modding!  :)

Oh, forgot.  Here's the Miura's stats:

C483
Speed 6.0
Acceleration 4.1
Braking 3.3
Handling 3.4
Rarity 8.7
350HP
271TQ
2745lbs
WB 44%

You can get it with a ton of color combinations, including multiple rocker panel colors.

I did my sort of standard MInc Light build (all tires and weight reducution with the spoiler) @ 54.5% and came up with an impressive 1.03.  However the car seems to be burdened with a fairly heavy drag coefficient.  Also, the engine's Hp peaks at 5000 yet it runs to a redline of 6500 and rev limiter at 7000.  I am off to put it on the Dyno, but I suspect this is going to be another car where you have to short shift if you want to stay in the power band.  I've already built one of my ersatz 5 speed trannys for it.

Then it is off to run a QR on it to see if there are any problems adding this the MInc herd...
