[A class] Audi TT '07
« on: July 29, 2008, 12:44:18 PM »
One of my favorite cars for online racing, this one's got immense acceleration out of corners - and some top end to match. It's a bit understeery in high speed sweepers, but some aero tweaks should take care of that, as the low speed handling seems to be decent.

Stats:
5.4 speed, 6.3 accel, 5.8 braking, 5.6 handling
364 HP, 409 lbft, 2576 lbs

Parts:
First engine swap
Race intake, exhaust, ignition, block and intercooler. Street fuel system.
Full race platform, handling and transmission.
Race front and rear spoiler, stock rear bumper.
Bridgestone slicks, stock rim size, Fikse profil 5 (or mix and match to personal preference)

Tune:
27/28
4.00FD; 3.50/1.95/1.34/1.00/0.82/na
-0,8/-0.7; +0.2/0.0; 5.5
9.00/40.00
250/450; 4.3/4.5
11.0/8.0; 2.5/2.0
125/130
46/115
23/0; 50/50; 42f 58r

Good for 1:20.4 around Silverstone international.

Interesting.  Guessing the neutral rear toe prevents oversteer and helps a bit with top speed?

It certainly helps keep the rear end in check when exiting corners, not sure if .2 degrees will affect speed much to be honest. I've basically started relying more on spring rates to get the steering balance right - it's a more realistic approach to tuning and it does make the car a bit more stable.

I still run rear toe-out in FWD cars though.

I wondered because a -.1 was costing me about 3-4 mph at Maple Valley in my 2000GT on the start/finish straight.  It's not going to be a huge difference, but enough to show up.  Thanks

Ske

I just tried that recipe and can't get it to match your stats.

Did you mean to have the intercooler with no turbo or supercharger?

And what about tires, wheels, rims etc?

I just can't find a way to get 364 HP with 409 lb ft

Cool.  I'll try that.

Any special tires, rims, wheels?

And the transmission?  Leave it alone?

I tried a TT with my wild guesses at getting to A850 and while obviously not what was intended, it encourages me.  A few seconds slower around Silverstone International, but that's probably not the car's fault.  What I came up with had immense grip coming out of corners - it seemed to be happy to go pretty much full throttle from the apex on giving me a super launch onto the next straightaway.

This is interesting.

Updated again, it did say full race platform and I included gear ratios though ;)

Clarification:  this is the non-DLC car, right?

Cool... as a Audi fanatic I was looking forward to get a nice TT'07 setup. I have high hopes in your work here Ske.

So, what do you say, does this car have LB potential or more a XBL race car? Any reference times set? ;)

PS: Good to see you back here :D

Thanks, Matio ;)

This isn't a very effective leaderboard car compared to the Z's and Evos out there - but you can probably get some decent times with it. Online racing is definitely this car's strong point, you won't be quite as nimble as the best cars in the corners but you won't be outclassed either... and you'll run away from just about any grip car the moment you put your foot down.

Finally got to build it tonight, and it is very nice indeed.  Beats my guessed A850 TT configuration which I had come to love for its ability to claw its way out of apexes.  Took a second and half off my previous best at Maple Rev (one of my fav tracks) without very much trying.

The ability to claw out of apexes is not so evident because your car has better overall adhesion than my build.

I think this is my new top favorite in class A, maybe in the game - it is so satisfying.

Thanks, Ske
