Coming soon.....

C Class Buick Regal GNX....

This car was built beacause of one of the guys on my FL's mid race comments while driving his GNX to a distant last place of... 'I don't think this car is any good in C Class'

So I originally built this car just for him so he could have a good Buick Regal in C class... but as it says in the title 'I liked it so much I built one for myself!'  :D

Build - 339bhp / 410 lb-ft / 3412 lbs

Full Race Platform / Street WR
Yokohama Street Tires 245/40 R18 & 255/40 R18 (Std width, +2 Size)
American Racing (505) Wheels
Rear Aero
Street Intake
Sport Exhaust
Street Ignition
Street Fuel
Street Cam
Sport Block

Toon

Tires - 28/29
FD - 4.00 1st 2.50 - 1,60 - 1.15 - 0.90 - 0.75 - 0.65 6th
Camber -1.0 / -0.8
Toe - 0.2 / 0.1
ARB - 14.95 / 17.86
Springs - 632.2 / 526.8
Rebound - 8.8 / 7.4
Bump - 4.4 / 3.7
Aero - 80 lbs
Brakes 55 / 110
Diff 40 /25

This car is a dream to drive, it didn't feel that quick in a straight line when I was testing it but it handled really well and (as the guy I built it for put it) "it glides through corners".

I think this could be a real sleeper car, its not quite as quick as the fastest cars down the straight but it will out handle them in the turns, it doesn't handle as well as say a mini or an integra but it will beat those down the straight.. So far it has my fastest Silv Int time (see below) beating a Full power build (550bhp) Camero SS and also a grippy but still quite fast Mini Cooper S which are my 2 current C-Classers and at Road Atlanta it beat a miricale lap I had in a (Looking at it now really badly built :-[ ) VIS MR2 that had almost std settings early on in the game and somehow never beaten since with either of these other cars  ???

(Current LB position) EDIT: More times Added..

Silverstone Int - 1:31.911 (3325) online MP
Road Atlanta   - 1:33.211 (2825)
Sunset Short   - 1:04.614 (691)
Silverstone GP - 2:06.659 (7695)
Sunset           - 1:41.178 (3017)
Rd Atlanta Sht - 1:02.154
Tsukuba          - 1:01.842
Maple Valley    - 1:42.085  ----   online MP
Motegi  East   - 1:36.584 (3171)
Suzuka          - 2:20.251 (4446) online MP
Sebring Sht    - 1:20.538 (1141)
Nurburgring    - 9:04.200 (4202) online MP 1 lap race
Mugello         - 2:07.353  (9809)
S'stone Nat    - 1:03.107

I will add more lap times soon, im going to try it on a variety of track types to see just how versatile this car really is.. Maple Valley to Sunset Infield, Tsukuba though.. thats just silly... isn't it??  :D

Have you seen the torque curve on that thing.  Talk yourself into short-shifting it with wider gears and its a powerhouse as it stands.  Loads of grip and easy to tune (as long as you don't go full width) makes this a not-so-bad choice for alternative C-class.  I'd like to see how it stacks up against some of my established cars.  Still have some holes to fill in C class and this might fit the bill.
Go sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here.

IIRC, you may want to try to squeeze in a turbo upgrade, as (again IIRC), it seems to help with Turbo lag.
It is highly likely that the above post was produced with a drippy jowl.

You're spot on Fit... I prefer a good handling car over one thats just fast, I like to build good race cars that do consistent laps rather than really fast hot-lap cars for miracle laps, The guy I built this for is not the fastest driver in Forza so I wanted to make a car that could handle well and win him some races (or at least move him up from his usual 5th/6th or DNF's) ... First race we ran them in I finished First and he finished second... I'll tell you that was such a good feeling to have my cars take a 1-2 in their first race, especially as he was able to beat some faster drivers than him...   8)

So I've run this car some more and love it even more, I pulled it out online against some strong oposition and was met with "A Buick Regal??" and "Those things don't handle"... I think it was when I came first at suzuka and then third in a 1 lap race at Nurburgring with a 9:04 (It will easily go under 9 minutes) that they kinda shut up... This is definately a car for suprising people with...  ;D

I've added the times above and its my fastet C-class car pretty much everywhere apart from the obvious places like Maple Valleyand Tsukuba.. and even there it is only a second off my best times, Its put down an excellent time on the Sunset Short Course to get 691st on th LB and also at Sebring its at 1141st.

Overall its between 2000 and 4000 and I think someone who knows the courses better could go faster especially at Mugello and Silverstone GP as I never seem to be able to hook up a really good lap at either of those courses in any car but it still managed to get into he top 10,000 at both these courses and get me PB's so im very pleased with it..

QR (Sebring Short, Tsukuba, Road Atlanta Short) = 204.534
PR (Sebring Short, Sunset Short, Silverstone Nat) = 208.259

Thanks BBQPete,
Had a chance to pull this sled out tonight and give it a go.  I was trying to match your times and I was way off.  Turns out it was built but not tooned, nice trick.  I added the toon above and headed off to the track, well tracks.  Here's a few of the one's I was able to get a few laps on tonight.  Just for the record I hate, hate, hate, all Silverstone variations and it reflects in my times.

Silverstone Int - 92.270
Road Atlanta   -  92.775
Rd Atlanta Sht - 62.425
Sebring Sht    - 81.511
Mugello         - 126.805

This car is very fast but I had to make a conscious effort to short shift it.  Watching the torque take over and rocket this thing makes me think it is often overlooked because you can't just run it to redline and shift.  I will go through and "Fit" tune this, I think the diff is a little off for my liking but a little driver adjustment and I was powering into the turns instead of trailbraking.

...

You are right about short shifting this car, you just have to let the torque do all the work no point trying to rev it you'll just go slower... lol
Glad you are enjoying it though, nice to know I built a car that other people like too... I'd like to see what your 'Fit' tooning does to it and what changes you make, I kind of just lucked out onto what felt like a real nice toon straight away so I didn't really want to change anything incase I ruined it! lol

Out of the gate only two adjustments came to mind.  I like the decel diff settings to be higher than the accel numbers so I'll start at my default of 35 accel/55 decel.  The second thing is the brake bias.  I prefer to set it back a tad to 47% and up the pressures to 110.  Both of those play into my trail braking tendancies to help get the rear of the car around.  It does handle very well even around Silverstone and its flat turns.  Doubt it'll need a lot of "Fit" tooning just some minor tweeks to make it more predictable.

Thanks Pete, I'll try to return the favor with another often overlooked car I have.  Also a C-class and I have been able to run with the 135's and a few Renault Turbo's on Boomslang and shorter tracks.  I consider it a real Snake charmer as in real life its considered a "cute" car.

Hmmm... sounds interesting fit, look forward to seeing what it is... I don't have many times set on the Snake tracks yet in any class so a nice C-classer for those tracks will come in very handy... Cheers mate.
