(It's another laid back Thursday night at the Tiny Terror shop. Fndr is slapping a paintjob on a street-legal sockmonkey for some kid's graduation present. Doc comes in and tosses fndr a beer.)
Doc: Here ya go, man. You ready for that runoff?
Fndr: Yeah. Hey, quick question.
Doc: Shoot.
Fndr: I know we're doing pretty well in the limited prep classes. I've got a '94 miata I'm putting together for spec, too. Why don't we get into full-prep? We've got the money, and now that the thesis is done, there's a little free time. I've been putting in roll cages a while now, and they meet spec. Your buddy with Goodyear gets us some good deals on slicks. Why not give it a shot?
Doc: I'm all for it. That B-class Toyota of yours is a full-prep as it is. Your D-class Miata is close, just needs the cage. Wanna meet in the middle and put something in C? Seems like these little foreign jobs you like would work pretty well there.
Fndr: Sounds like a plan. I've found another 2000GT. This one's got an engine, so it should fit in C. Can you look up some specs while i'm finishing up this paint?
Doc: Sure. I'll try to find a Club Race spec or something, and we'll go from there.
The Cars:
2000GT
1969 Fairlady
Ferarri Dino GT
Lotus Elan
Mazda Roadster
Porsche 914/6
spec:
C-class, max PI 550
Less than 200 hp
Aside: This almost necessitates slicks and full WR; in the interest of full disclosure, that's how I built the test mules for this class. If you want to sacrifice a little width or stickiness for power, though, be my guest, as long as it fits. Note that the Dino comes a bit shy of 550. It's pretty strong, so I'm not too worried about it. (Note: Fairlady removed from comment)
The Challenge:
Some of you have already started playing along with this one, but I got the go-ahead to make it official. If you want your times from the garage try-out project posted in this thread, just post them. The challenge is to post laptimes on all three of the QR tracks: Sebring Short, Tsukuba, and Road Atlanta Short. Leaderboard will show aggregate times, so list the three times for each car. We'll let the magic of excel do the rest.
Timeline: Looking to wrap this one up around the 25th to make way for the Muscle, Inc. official challenge.
