April Muscle Inc.: C Builder Challenge - Closed
« on: March 27, 2008, 03:36:47 PM »
I thought we'd get a jump on this one, partly cause we are challenge-less at the moment, and partly, because if this goes right, everybody will be building a half dozen cars or so... maybe, sort of - so the extra time will be handy.

This is a proposal for the Muscle Inc.C Class spec.

  • Class C - 550 PI Max
  • Y Rated tires with a minimum width of 215 mm. (The GTO is allowed to run 205 mm)
  • All adjustable Platform/Handling parts are required.
  • Rear Wing is required.

Both of the Corvettes and the Chevelle are excluded from this for the time being.
Edits:
  • It appears the GTO has issues with the spec, so it is off the list for the time being as well.
  • The Charger is included, but with a jaundiced eye...

The tracks are the first three tracks of the C Class Professional Series (Tsukuba, Mugello II, and Silverstone GP).   These races pay 26000+ per pop so expenses associated with multilple builds will be defrayed some what.

The goal is to determine if the Muscle Cars built to this specification are competitive within the group, as well as in C class over all.

At this time I have 4 of 'em built, 3 are QR'd and the BucksToon Account C Class leaderboard is made up of cars built to this specification, and is currently ranked at 357 overall.   With everybody's various tuning regimines and build tendencies we should be able to get a pretty good burn on this.

So far I'd have to say that this is like D Class with Traction.  The Shelby was the first one and I probably owe it another run.  I haven't been doing too much tweakage - I'll save that for when I have them all built and have established a pissing order of sorts.

The Challenger is a surprise for me, that tractor sounding engine just doesn't sound like it's getting it done, until you come up on a corner and find out you're going a lot faster than ya thunk...  :-\

I also need to rethink the way I built the Z28, it came out much weaker than I thought it should.

Read the text blurb that accompanies the tires (you may have to hit Y to get it to show.)  None the less...

  • Street = Y Rated
  • Sport = DOT
  • Race = Slicks

Fun with heavy cars.

I've just gotten through with sub-2000lb, slick equipped tiny terrors.

But at least I've got the set up down.

You and me both, Drift!  Here's my first effort, though I'm hoping to improve upon it later.

You've got me beat, Blooze, but it's fun to drive!

Couldn't help it as I'm kinda feeling good.

If Italian race drivers are just chillin, one could say (and fndr did in a way), "they're totally Mugellow!"

Fndr coined a new race word!  LOL

I had an extra Z-28 sitting around that didn't have a purpose. So I put it in C Class.

Z-28
  491.836 Tsu
  455.092 Mug
  513.920 Sil
1460.848

I have made Class label tags for my muscle cars.

I'm going to use the class color for the background.
Next is S^4 purple and then B class green.

I also got a couple new vintange paints up in my design shop. Just a preview of what's coming next.

LOL - I can relate...  When I decided to go ahead and work on the C Muscle Inc. Stable I was in the middle of tuning and running R1 cars and experimenting with their DF settings.  What a come down!  My first few laps with the GT-500 were a disaster.  It wouldn't go, it wouldn't turn, and it wouldn't stop.  I had to run quite a few laps in the snakes to get used to the thing.  That is the reason why I owe it another pass at the timed tracks.

***

Heavens!  My reign at the top of the leaderboard was certainly short lived.  You really handed me my lunch on Tsukuba!!  And with a Z28 to boot!  Good time!

I fear I erred big time when I built my Z28, opting for the Race level cam which bumped up the Hp and peak RPMs pretty good but the Hp/Torque ratio suffered severly, dropping from 1.000 to .883.   Tell me, did you build your engine for torque?

***

The color scheme is a good idea!  I use a similar tactic in the BucksToon garage (it currently has 45 Muscle cars ranging from Stock to S in it).  Cars that don't have custom paints are Purpleish, Blueish, Greenish, Yellowish and Orangish.  One thing that is fortunate is that there is a definite PI division to the cars.  If they are not stock, then they are one of the Class PI values.   I am glad I got them all moved to the BucksToon account though.  It would be a mess if they were still in the main Blooze46 profile.

***

Just for giggles and because it is the sort of crazy-assed crap I do, I started tracking the financials on my C Class Muscle Inc Stable.  Now I have all sorts of interesting little factoids...

  • The Stable consists of 5 cars that have a combined value of 418000 Cr.
  • The actual cost of the 5 cars is 227000 Cr.
  • Of that amount, 134500 is for parts.
  • Sell off value of the 5 cars is 183600 Cr.  You can see that I would loose my shirt if I sold those cars.
  • 4 of the cars are leveled off to 5, the Chevelle being the drag on the community.
  • I have won a combined 910704 Cr. with the cars...
  • ...and have driven them a total of 495.91 miles.

As you can see, I am in need of some sort of intervention, I am afraid...  :-\

I'm a tiny bit familiar with Tsukuba. 8) And I had some pratice just beforehand today with fndr's TT cars.

I got a couple of laps down into the 61's. Not bad for a car that's 2900 lbs with Y-rated tires. I was down into the low 60's with the TT cars.

I built grip first so I maxxed out WR. A slight oversize in width also. Its only pushing 314 HP. Hence the beatings on the other tracks. But for what its got on it, it's all torque.

I got a Shelby that's close to the same way. 3100 lbs and stock power and tire width. I'm interested in seeing what it will do.
Then there's the vintage cars coming after that. (shameless plug for paint shop) Big and heavy those two are.

But I'm going to "only" use those four cars. After prelims, it time to tighten down the loose nut and learn these tracks as well as I know Tsukuba and Rd Atl Short.

Rats, rats, rats, *&#^#@((*#&&#

I went off the track near the end of the last lap on the last race for a 5 second penalty!!!  $*#&$#&*

I didn't realize this was one of those series races where you can't just go back and re-run.  Bummer man.

Charger
Tsukuba 504.848
Mugellow 453.818
Silverstone 512.993
Total 1471.659

Siverstone should be this cars best track but drat I can't go back and run it easily so this will have to do.

I was sooooo close to breaking 62 on Tsukuba.  I think I ran two 62.048.

You can restart Tsukuba as many times as you want without it costing you anything. :)

I hate screwin' up near the end of a race.  I think that is one reason I never do any good on the 'Ring...  I get on defensive mode past the half way point.

I made a slot in the leaderboard for the QR if you have it.

Alas the first two races I ran decently with no penalty.  To re-run the one I really messed up on I'd have to go all the way back throught those two just to get to the last one.  No time for that as I need to get to work :(   Did I mention *#(#&(###(*$((#  lol.
