I like Motegi best, but Suzuka seems like a good choice to me. It's definitely the most varied 2 minute track although like the others it seems to favor high power over handling.

I feel the same way about Motegi...but I haven't given the track much time, to be honest...

More details this evening...

Well, I'm pretty sure all of the two-minute tracks favor power over handling at least to a degree.  Don't they all have some pretty long straights in them somewhere?

They do have the straights but, with the build comparisons that I did at Suzuka with my A class TommyK Subaru, the full grip build was faster than any other option I threw at it so, I'd at least classify Suzuka as a grip track. Lot's of time spent with the wheel turned there!

+1.  The track favors a bit more grip over speed overall.  Although tuning for speed is still an important part of the back half of the track and the front stretch.

I'd agree with the two posts above me. For the record I would break the tracks down like so:

Power Tracks:
Road America
Sebring

Flowing Tracks:
Suzuka
Silverstone
Mugello

The only long track which I would go so far as to describe as Twisty is King Cobra. Flowing tracks present a special challenge, as you can't go all one way towards grip or power if you want to be competitive.

Motegi is also a unique instance.  However, I've been in plenty of races on Silverstone where higher hp has had a huge advantage.  I love running B-class muscle there, so this isn't a complaint, and our restrictions eliminate the missile builds.  However, I doubt that the high-grip cars (lotus, Golf MKII, for example) will be dominant on these tracks like they are at some others.

BTW, I'm not sure what I'd classify Motegi.  I think it's the only one I've seen that has both MKII's and Chevelles on the D-class leaderboard in the top few spots.  Then again, that sort of thing changes pretty quickly.

Two Minute Warning: Part II

Dirt decided on running the two Camaros, one for grip and one for power. Trixie gets the power build on this excursion. While making prep and packing..."BEEPBEEEPBEEEP"

DD: Crap! Now which button am I supposed to push?

Trixie: Same button as last time...that's why you have different ring tones.

DD: I don't see a single ring on this damned gizmo.

Trixie: Here. Oh, you got a picture from Blooze.

Betsy: Oh my!

Bert: hehe...wonder how he got the camera down there?

Trixie: Looks like Bloozie is losing some weight.

DD: Hmmmm...I think you are right. Any message?

Trixie: Yep! Looks like we are off to Italy. First track is Mugello. Oh..wait. Says here we get three days to post a time and thats it. Then the next track gets revealed and times for that track are locked in.

Bert: He sure has an odd sense of humor.

"BEEPBEEPBEEP"

Trixie: Another pic...what's this?

DD: Dammit! That's my split bamboo fly rod. How'd he get his hands on that?

Trixie: It's not from Blooze. It's from Fat Louie. Says the Boss just wanted a little insurance.

Bert: Who is this Boss, anyway...uh...boss?

DD: You don't want to know. Best if you all just stay out of it.

So there it is:

  • Ten Day Challenge
  • First Track is Mugello
  • Three Days to post your time starting tomorrow
  • Then that track is closed and the next track is revealed

What!!!

It was just a picture of Blooze crawling under the Shelby without it being on a lift. Get your minds back where they belong!  ;D

Hell, you can change builds, change tunes or change cars!

The underlying concept is to discover the cars/builds which are strongest on the long tracks.

A fairly short trip for our shop then ;) Incidentally, it occurred to me tonight that there is another 2 minute track to add to the list - Black Mamba...

And, it's a long time since I've run the Camaro SS - I think it might be time to shake loose a few cobwebs :)
