My understanding is the guy in the chair would get promoted to customer, if you know what I mean.  I still have to wait and have the 'pay' discussion but that won't be 'til tomorrow.  Hopefully I can get my head straight and clear by then so I can either accept the satus quo or plead my case.  I want the job but knowing that someone could leave jobless is hard.  Hence the morale dilemma, but life is a dog-eat-dog world right.  :-\

Hm.  If the guy's bad enough at his job (or has somehow pissed off the higher ups enough) that they're having an open casting call for it, it sounds like they're going to replace him with SOMEONE.  Sounds like there's not a lot you can do to help him.  His situation stays the same regardless.  Your real dillemma isn't you vs. him.  It's you vs. the other guys who might replace him.  I know this sounds harsh, but you're looking at a false dilemma there.  I'm not trying to rationalize doing anything asinine, but if someone calls you into the office and asks for reasons they should promote you and get rid of Bobby in accounting, they're looking for someone to replace Bobby in accounting.

Without turning this into a buisness ethics discussion, I know something fishy is going on.  The way it ws expressed to me if I had a replacement it would be a done deal.  Our shop only has 3 heavy hitters when it comes to productivity and experience, if I make a change then it's down to 2.  For an expanding shop to lose a tech that the dealer has paid for extensive and ongoing training is quite a loss.  However, I have been successful out in the dirty side and I want a change.  Its difficult to have this discussion and not sound selfish.  I've practiced in the mirror to hear it aloud.  Its a very selfish argument and it itsn't portrayable (sp) without using I, me, or myself.  Also my agruments against Bob in accounting tend to come off as biased instead of factual.

If I seperate my emotions from the argument is comes off as stale and matter of fact.  If I add some passion to the argument it starts to sound like I'm gunning for the guy.  I really suck at debating without full disclosure.  Too many variable about Bob that I don't know and playing to my strenghts is a biased argument.  Damn politics of work.

Good morning...  :-\

Shades of yester-year around here last night, this morning and so on...

I got the All a tangle building an S Class Integra that was supposed to be a U class Integra but I ran out of parts before I made it to U so made it an S and then built a Stealth out to U instead, tuned and QR's the suckers too.  An all nighter, capped off by cold pizza at 6:30 before laying down for a while blues.

The Integra is impressive - it has taken 4 of the rankings, and lacks only .159 of taking the 5th.

Funny thing is, this whole thing began as me trying to finish getting the #Uno times for the Career entered in my spreadsheet.

Dirt, hopefully the person will get a the clue once you start him/her on the dicipline trail... ( verbal warning, written reprimand, time off, hasta luego) and seek employment else where before you have to tie a can to his butt.

***

Fit, is this person aware of his tenuous situation?

High noon, Bloozeman!

In my case it is just a matter of how adaptable the person is...quick learner equals continued employment.

As for Fit's situation...I am gonna be honest...I wonder if they already decided to not move him out of the shop and now are playing a game to make it look like it is his fault they didn't follow through on a promise, implied or otherwise.

Well, this is just me, but I'd just say point blank that I can't speak to Bob's track record or his contribution to the company.  At most (and I might not even say this), I'd say that we wouldn't be having this discussion if there weren't some sort of issue.  I'd then go into the discussion of my achievements and contributions.

If Dirt's onto something, well, that just sucks.

Good lord man!

And the people here think 40 is cold.  40's just right...
It is highly likely that the above post was produced with a drippy jowl.
