Mike: Well, if you haven't been tuned into the Forza Channel you have been missing what can only be called the most absurd ending to an ALS event that could be imagined. Looking at the track right now we can see Georgia State Patrol cars on the track surrounding what remains of the ALS C6 Pace Car. The driver has been taken into custody. Kristen, do you have anything more on this unusual story?

Kristen: Mike, the driver of the stolen pace car is a young man named Paulo who apparently came here with a score to settle with the OldSchool Speedshop following an incident at Sebring last month. But this time it looks like BBB Racing and not OSS has finished the story.

Larry: We can take a look at the replay. After the wreck of the ZR-1 this Paulo stayed on the track and began to hunt down the second OSS car driver by the rookie. With the yellow flag out he easily catches him and punts him into the sand turning onto the back strech.

Mike: And this is where it gets bizarre. You can see here that the red flag is out and all drivers are to come into the pit. But one car actually takes the track as the pace car is passing the entrance to pit row. That driver is the surprise team member, Blooze, in the Grand Sport. And it only takes one lap for him to put an end to the stolen pace car driver's racing career.

Larry: That's right, Mike. Blooze's GS has been performing well and he catches the rogue driver at the chicane. Coming into the front stretch Blooze is on the inside. Now, look at this! He feints and drifts onto the straight. Kicking his quarter panel around he catches the unbalanced C6 as he crosses that elevation change sending him into the wall and then spinning down the front stretch. After that it is all up to the GSP. Kristen?

Kristen: Mike, Larry, I am here with the unexpected hero of OldSchool Speedshop, the driver of the Grand Sport, Blooze. Why did you go out on the track to take this guy on?

Blooze: %&^*&% guy was gonna *%(*^ me out of my paycheck. Old Dirt would've claimed he couldn't afford to *&&*% pay me with all that damage to his *&$% cars. Well, I wasn't about to let that olde &$^%# cheat me out of a check so...

Kristen: Well, that's all the time we have. Back to you, Mike.

Mike: As always, there are lots of surprises in ALS. For Larry and Kristen, this is Mike with Forza Channel thanking you for viewing the ALS/500 Corvette Rally, as always, in HD.

Well darn!  Paulo's in jail and Chet's in hiding.  Ah well.  I was looking forward to involving Paulo in future stories...
It is highly likely that the above post was produced with a drippy jowl.

After an outburst like that I wonder how big Blooze's fine is going to be and how many points he's going to get docked.

Well, the notes are posted across various garages, people are hating driving Vettes, and people are hating Road Atlanta. Looks like my work here is done. Congrats to the individuals who kept peeling off the tenths. Amazing performance. A couople or three of you ran all three cars yourself for the team aspect. Good on ya and thank you.

And to the guys who managed to put together a three man team with three players you certainly have my respect, not just for the times but for adding something to the challenge. I think in the future I will only run teams with real world players.

It will be a few weeks before we see anything else out of the OSS...job transfer and all will need to get settled down. And I need to do some prep work with the Mustangs. Thanks again for an excellent showing.

Here's an interesting fact that doesn't contain enough information...LOL

Looks like the Corvette did participate in Trans Am racing but not against the Pony cars...it ran in the other class that included Porsche...hmmmm

DD

Finally, found some Trans Am Rules for 1970:

The Trans-Am is a manufacturers' championship series in which points for the top six cars in separate over-2-liter and under-2-liter races are awarded to the car manufacturer not the driver.

* Points are based on nine points for the winning make of car, six points for the second place auto (provided it is not the same make as the winner), four points for the third place finisher, three points for fourth place, two points for fifth place and one point for sixth place. Only the highest finishing car of each make gets points.

* Each manufacturer may count the best nine finishes of the 13 Trans-Am races. The over-2-liter races must be at least one hour and 45 minutes, while the under-2-liter races must be at least an hour in duration.

* To be eligible, either 2500 of the same model or 1/250th of the previous year's production-whichever is greater-must be produced. The maximum wheelbase allowable is 116 inches and the minimum weight for the big cars is 3200 pounds with fuel and without the driver.

* Competing cars use pump grade gasoline. Class A (over-2-liter) cars are restricted to 22 gallon tanks, while Class B cars may not have tanks over 15 gallons.

* Each car must have an onboard starter and start by its own power. Only the driver may repair a car when it stops out on the course, and he may not push the car.

* In qualifying, it is the driver/car combination which earns a given time. Times are recorded on each lap for each car during qualifying.

* Pressure activated and/or elevated refueling tanks are not permitted this year. Contestants must use an SCCA-approved fueling can.

* And, finally, to be considered a finisher, a car must cross the finish line no more than five minutes after the winner has taken the checkered flag and must have completed half the distance of the winning car.
