September Muscle, Inc. Challenge has Concluded
« on: September 14, 2007, 03:36:44 PM »
The winners of the 'cuda are Racing Pro, Serial, and Hek.

As usual, let's have a debriefing session but let's keep it focused on the challenge. And a huge thanks to all the participants. This was the most successful challenge, yet. I learned valuable things. And I am digging the C2!

I am out for the weekend, hopefully. Will see most of you next week.

Congrats fellas!

I'd have posted more times because I wound up using a few other cars, but none of them wound up being as fast as my initial run with the Sting Ray...

As I was typing, I saw a red 70s model Vette convertible go down the street on the back of a truck.  Drool. :D

What...huh...me?  Not that I'm complaining mind you, but I thought you were only giving away two of these things.

As for the debrief...

I got my Cuda working real well on Sebring and so so on Suzuka.  I'm pretty sure since I've yet to get anything working better than so so on Suzuka, it's probably just me.  I leaned how to spell Sting Ray (thanks DD) and I was reminded just how much throttle control it takes to wheel that thing around the track.  I can't say I like driving it, but I don't dislike driving it either.  It's just a different kind of fun I guess.

Hek, You won the cuda as a "hard charger" award. It was impressive, as always, to see you put that thing through it's paces. Besides, like I said last time, It's my car. I can give it to whomever I damn well please. I am damn well pleased with all you bring to the group.

and pre 70 it is Sting Ray, on the C3s it is Stingray...lmao

Thanks DD!

Ok, this was a bit of a pain, but I split out all the times from the scoreboard on FM.net by car type.  I know I can't be the only one out there who likes to look at data in different ways.  If you guys notice any mistakes let me know.  And these are all times from both block 1 and block 2.

here i am giving you a car and you dropped my Boss times! I get no respect, I tell ya~ :D

Reckon you could use a couple of Sting Ray times in there, too.

Hek, is that using bb code for a table...how the hell did you do that?

I'll fix up what I missed after I get some food (edit: corrected now).  Yes that's bbcode.  It's a pain in the butt.  Can't seem to set the font courier for the whole table so it's set cell by cell.

"Wake up........Hey, Fit.........WAKE UP!!!!"  Oh no, did I fall asleep in the booth again, dang it.  I wish there was an interesting way to watch paint dry.

"I'm up, I'm up, where's the fire???"  Man its Friday, you could have just let me sleep.

"Aren't you supposed to be somewhere??"  Ooops, I was supposed to qualify the Charger today.  How could I miss that.  It was supposed to be our big debut.

"Spanky, I'm sorry.  With all the hustle and bustle around here I'm so worn out I musta plain forgot.  Did you see all the new cars in the back lot?"  Anything to change the mood around here, I can't believe I was too busy to race.

"Looks like you scored big at the auction, how much did that set us back?"  He has no idea the deal I worked on that one.

"Your not gonna believe it, Spanky.  I showed up for the Great Lakes Auto Auction just like the flyer said.  I took the big hauler this time and even a bit of my own cash.  Noone else was there.  Honestly, noone was there.  I spent about an hour playing a waiting game with the auctioneer and just before he wrapped it all up I made an offer on the whole lot.  He took it, do you believe it he took it."  What a score, some poo shop shut down with all of these great cars hangin around and noone shows up to buy them.  What a great score for Spanky's Speedshop.  "Here let me show you what I picked up"

Out back of the paint shop is a perfectly parked row of Muscle.  An orange 500KR, a cutom painted GTO, a Z/28, a fresh Charger and several tuner cars.  Last but not least all the way at the end of the line under a shiney new car cover is a Barracuda.  I thought Johnny Rotten was gonna pass out when we drove it up to the main shop.  He's such a Mopar nut.  As Spanky gave an approving pat on the shoulder I commented, "We may have missed the end of this one but we're stocked for whatever next month has to offer.  JR and I have some work to do this weekend getting all these cars primed and ready for paint.  How are we gonna decide which one to use for the next challenge?"

(I scored almost the complete garage from a friend of mine that decided to stop playing Forza to make way for NHL08 and COD4.  I spent most of last night downloading scores of gift cars.  I restarted my box 3 times to make sure there were no issues with the amount of DLC moving through it.  Just in case your wondering you can only gift so many cars at a time and I was so busy recieving them I stopped counting.)
Go sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here.

Well, I really enjoyed that one, as you could all probably tell as I took it down to the wire. I suspect though that the 2 weeks did end up a bit too long for most people as there was a definite drop off in numbers in the second week, even with the twist. With a 2 week challenge I think Dirt was right to have 2 tracks, I was seriously starting to get sick of Suzuka by the end, although it did give me a chance to get to know Sebring Club better (to the extent that I got under 69 seconds with a B700 Soarer in the Big Block Series).

I was a little disappointed that nobody else tried the Goat (or did you all try it and find it too slow?). By the 2nd week I was interested to know if it was knowing the SS that got me the faster time or whether it's just a better car. I suppose everyone was still reeling from punding around Maple Valley in it which pretty well confirms that it's best to have the Muscle Inc Challenges run monthly.

Once again, thanks for running these Dirt - there's some fast times out there and it shows the calibre of the people runnign them that they're happy to help out those such as myself who still have a bit to go in the tuning effort.

In this process, did you run across a numerical limit for your own personal garage?

I had all the cars at one point, plus my "normal" garage.  I'd guess I probably had 20-30 "extra" cars, maybe?  (I have a bunch of Subaru Legacy's and 911 Carreras, a ton of Z/28's, and dupes on a few Porsches and muscle cars.)  I never ran into the limit.

I know Flying Scot has complained about it in the past.  Maybe ask him what the actual number is if you see him online sometime.

Good fun challenge.. I'm sorry the air kinda went out of me the last days (just been a bit exhausted)

I could never get to grips with the Cuda... I thought it handled decently when we started the challenge, not so much when revisiting it. Might have been able to shed a couple of tenths at Suzuka, but I'd still be in last 'cuda place. There must also be something I do horribly wrong at Sebring, lol.. my times were more competitive at Suzuka, but again it could very well be the way I tune.

I did stay on top of the Z28 board though for some unknown reason :D

No limit on my garage yet.  I hopped on for a few last night and had another full screen of gift cars waiting.  I haven't counted my total cars or looked to see if there is a section for that anywhere in game.

Gift cars have been sent.

Next month we will do a random drawing for the gift cars from among the drivers who choose to use them. Hope you all don't mind spreading the wealth around.

Well, I am off to run the A class enduro to pay some bills....hahaha.

Edit: This months prize Cudas were brought to you courtesy of the ALS Series 1.  :D

Good Racing,
