"Right turn Clyde"

Doh!

There I was, all pissed off at Turn10 for thier lack of forum organization, not-as-accurate as hyped physics, and all the leaderboard exploiting and glitching going on, that I dropped FM2 all together.  Frying my brain and most of my freetime on the calculator didn't help my enjoyment of the game either, but essentially I just quit playing Forza for the past few months.

[guilt]I started playing World of Warcraft instead[/guilt]

About two months ago I got a chance to drive a car in real life, maybe you've heard of it, the 2008 Audi R8?  Yeah, the one they had the commercial for during the superbowl.   It's NOT an easy car to get seat time in, but I got lucky.  Driving the latest automotive technology changes the way even a car enthusiast thinks/dreams/drools about cars.
Needless to say, in combination with the downloadable release of the R8 in FM2, I was inspired to get back in the Forza saddle.

With an open and fresh mind I started taking some cars out on the track and racing again.  I'm still building my reflexes back up but i'm getting back up to speed quickly.
Then I went and took a good look at all of the Forza forums and literally cringed.  Still a mess.
I'm only ever on the Racing forum anyways, keeping up with my calculator, and it's good to see some people are still respectful and willing to teach and learn, but sorting through all the trash is tougher than ever.

I think Tonka posted something about this forum the other day that got me over here.  I knew Blooze and Dirt created this forum back in the day, but that was about the time I was losing interest in Forza.  I never really made it over here.  I'm glad i've taken another look.

You guys got yourself a real  cool tuning shop here, very impressive.  It's good to see alot of familiar faces again too.

[kick]Forza Motorsport forums[/kick]

As some of you might know i'm working on a version 4 of the calculator.  I doubt it will be as impressive as the spreadsheets that some of you guys have come up with, and surely not as detailed in guidance as ShinySide's and some others works, but I hope to add some shine to a project I spent so much time and effort on.

Anyways, sorry i'm late, but this looks like my kinda place.

This really is a kind of mad scientist operation. As you can see, the more active members who start developing their own projects often end up with their own shop. And the R&D section is Blooze's home...stuff in there is waaaaaayy over my head.

Blooze is our Muscle, Inc "president", if you will. He runs the site and oversees the development of Muscle, Inc. projects. Me, I just shoot the bull and run the ALS stuff.

Settle in, they guys here are sharp and always interested in intelligent projects.

Yep this is definitely the place to be if you're a .net dropout like us ;D

I can only take so much of the kids "over there" before banging my head against the wall, lol. As you've noticed I still roam the racing tech forum from time to time, but thankfully I'm not that bored very often. Good to see some intelligent discussion there in the past couple of days, though ;)

Funnily enough, i stopped playing WoW the moment I got my 360 w/Forza. I still log on once in a blue moon but I think a couple of hours a month is all I can take these days :P

Well, "intelligent" projects are usually over my head.  I've just figured out how to do something other than just use the calculator and follow its instructions lemming-style.  However, I think I speak for a lot of folks when I say thanks for the calc.  It got me started in the right direction when I was pretty much clueless.  But yeah, this is a pretty good place to be.  I did the WoW thing, but it's a poor substitute for tabletop RPG's for me.

I'm old school, but not that old school....Also, in my nerd-dom, I typically do homebrew stuff when I DM.  That's the one thing that has me excited about 4th ed, getting the old gaming group back together, since I can't drive to Louisiana, Northeast Georgia, and Atlanta at the same time for a game.

Welcome.

I can see how driving an R8 might light the gas in your veins. I got a bit of seat time in one a while back too. Very impressive. Maybe it was the same car? This one was an Audi car that had been at the Detroit GP and was touring dealerships around the country. Because I've spent all my disposable income on Audis for the last 10 years or so I was treated to a drive. (I want more seat time so I can master that gated shifter.)

That car was here yes, I have some pictures of it somewhere, the silver one with CF sides and engine surrounds,......but the car I got to drive belonged to someone, it was black with silver sides.
The trouble with street driving a sport inspired car like that is that you can't drive it like you are supposed to.  Those brakes need to be heat cycled/thrashed, and you need to open up the throttle and "clear the lungs out" every now and again.  The owner of this car is a collector type, an early adopter, he's got several Porsche's, a nice S8, and an RS6.  The problem is that he has too much money and not enough time to DRIVE all these cars.  Luckily, he has no problem letting us "fix" his cars for him.  "Squeeky brakes", "rough idle", "smoky exhaust", etc....all of these "problems" can be fixed with a good 5 minute "test drive".  He knows it, we know it, everyone is happy.

Fortunately I got to hit a couple of on-ramps during my drive in Audi's Audi. Oh yeah ;)

My RS4 sounds better, but the R8 is oh so sweet!
