Running bimmer's setup I recorded a 64.882 in a tuning run. The transmission is the biggest part of the difference. Going to an adjustable final drive and stretching the gears out went a long way towards making speeds under 100mph more manageable.

On a side note, the Cobra will run about 34.5 laps on Sebring Club before you run out of gas, but the tires are gone after about 25. ;D

wow, thats a really good time,
i saw bimmers time was about 130 on the leaderboard - amazing!

think its gonna take me many hours to my time down anywhere near low 65's let alone a high 64!

you kept the diff as posted (100/100)?

I kept the diffs as posted for my tuning runs.

I opened an online room to see if I could post a 64 to the leaderboards. I set restrictions to A Class, front engine, RWD. Lo and behold, a 1994 Civic joined the room and readied up. I thought it was funny that he was running a RWD Vti until the end of the race when I saw his time. That little Civic ran a 63.920! I didn't think he'd be able to pull awayy from me in my Cobra on the straights, but he did, and he held the corners better than I did as well.

I almost threw up. >:(

I tried my first tuning session with the Cobra last night and ended up running a 65.593 at Sebring Club.  All assists off.  My Gamertag is Detrick 2006 to confirm.

Anywhay, there is a good .600 in driver error in that time, though.  Running a consistent lap in that thing is tough.  I would love to do something with the brakes since that seems to bite me in the ass more often than not.  But I upgraded the tranny so I guess I'll have to live with it.

Tuning session #2 to commence tonight.  I'll have to keep working on the tuning set-up if I want to get close to the times previously posted by Bimmer.

I went the complete opposite direction with the diff. so maybe I'll try it at 100/100.

Nice time for the 'Chuck Norris' driving style!

I'm afraid of turning off ABS if I can't adjust the pressure on the brakes. Good going D!

Ok 2nd tuning session (although it was short  :() in the books ....posted a 65.274 (Sebring Club).  Basically, I turned the diff. to 100/100 and fiddled with the sway bars - I think those ended at 1F/40R.  In spite of these extreme settings (I saw these in another post on this site) it seemed to help ....I think.

I'm not sure if the car is getting better or if I'm just getting better with the car....LOL

I also tried it out at Sebring Short and posted a 73.288.  The time is about 5 seconds off the top time so that kinda sucks - but, when you take a look at those top lap times they were set in 1,000HP Stingrays and Chargers.  I think it's about time to attack some other tracks with this thing and see how it'll hold up.

S-Class, anyone?
It is highly likely that the above post was produced with a drippy jowl.

Well, been using my A-class Cobra on a number of tracks lately (been working over the scoreboards trying to catch Blooze...LOL) and I gotta say I love that car.  I even took her around the ring a couple of times and posted a time of 7:58.620 (now don't laugh at that time because it's good for me...LOL).  Anyways, I'm finding that I can post my fastest times with it at a number of tracks.

Now I mostly use downforce (to the max) cars since I'm not that adventurous so the Cobra is a change.  You can never put that thing on autopilot and hope for a good time.

I'm at work right now so I can't post the set-up for those interested but will do so later.

My GT is Detrick 2006 and I think Blooze is the only regular here who I have on my Friends list.  Feel free to add me so we can race ....full sim - of course.

A 7:58 on the ring is a pretty good time for that car. I think the best non-scoreboard cars I have were running 43's around there, and they are much easier to drive.

So, I was racing online (full room) a few nights ago when an A-class 'ring race was selected.  Being the sly fox I am I bring out the Cobra ...everybody laughs and tells me I'm crazy.  I finished middle of the pack mostly because of a lap 1 turn 1 semi-disaster that left me damaged (....and some driver error from there, it's just so easy to push the car beyond the limits of the tires...) ..but it was fun.  Need to get a room going with these cars and see who bites.....

I've still been fiddling with this car and quite frankly, having a blast driving it both online and off so I thought I'd post the set-up.  Let me know what you think.  I think I mentioned that before but I'm not sure if it's me getting better with the car or the car just getting better ...or maybe both.

My A-850 Build....

Engine - Um, yeah ...nothing.
Brakes - Street Brakes
Suspension - Full Race with Sway Bars
Tranny - Sport
Diff. - Race
Tires - Firestone Street

Highest upgraded rim size.
HRE - 546R rims

Tire Pressure
F - 29
R - 28

Gearing
Final drive set at 2.78

Alignment
Camber F - (0.8 )
Camber R - (0.6)
Front Toe - (0.1)
RR Toe - (0.3)
Caster - 5.0

Roll Bars
F - 28.25
R - 27.60

Springs
Front - 385.7
RR - 208.5
Ride Height - 5.1

Damping
Front Rebound - 6.9
RR Rebound - 7.1
Front Bump - 6.4
RR Bump - 4.4

Differential
Accel - 80
Decel - 70

I do all my driving Chuck Norris style if that helps you figure out what assists I'm using.

I'm sure the setup flies in the face of some of the excellent work that is done on this forum by Blooze and Tonka and the others but it seems to work for me.  Any suggestions are welcome.  I've dubbed her - "The Black Widow" - and she's a carbon fiber beyotch..... ;D

This car is, IMO the answer to most of the questions we all have.

How can I be a better driver?

How can I learn to handle something that's actively trying to find walls?

Am I Chuck Norris? 8)
