Hint, hint

This is a pure grip track. Tires first. Then weight.
I was only topping out at only 140-145 with a S998 Evo. Another second place, by a tenth. Power doesn't get you much on this track.

It can actually cost you. Coming out of the kink, high grip cars can hold it flat through the gentle lefts to the final hairpin. Lifting can cost you up to a half a second.

B class best time is that damn 2000GT. I can keep up with it until there in muscle cars. I have to lift a little to keep the rears stuck. It pulls away from them there. I almost caught it in the last M Inc. Off by a tenth.

I still can't cry about 58's in a muscle car.

NSXR          58.916
Snorkel        59.349

There's not a lot you can do to the snorkel car in B-Class, I think that's why I had mine bumped up to S class for fun. The NSXR is the "TrashNSX" that some of you may remember from my earlier posts. It's a 'first draft' collection of parts with zero tuning. I hate driving it online because it usually beats the times I can run in my older cars, at least on tracks like Sunset Peninsula. I'm feeling better about it on this track since I've got several classics (914, Dino, STRATOS etc) in the low 58s. Kinda weird that being slower than my other cars would make me feel better about the NSX. ::)

Has anyone figured out what the major problem areas are with this car? I'm still not sure that there are any!

Ran a few laps (instead of going to work :) ) with the 97 NSX.  Nice car.  I only threw a quick tune on it and I managed a 58.716, which is just shy of my Challenger time.  I fear that the challenger may not be on the scoreboard much longer.  This car is so well balanced it's not even fair.  It's nearly 3000 lbs and I don't feel the weight shift at all.

Guys, one request, I'm not too familiar with all the different variants of NSX so could ya help me out?  I like to standardize the car names in the table in case we want to sort on that later.  A snorkle?  And Dirt, which Acura are you running the 97 or to 05?  Thanks. :)

Sorry, Hek. It's the 05 Acura.

Problem areas?

Working on the Do Luck right now.

1. Body roll is the first problem I have to address. Changes in camber under load confirm that it is just too much. Took the springs up 2% but that seems a little too stiff as it exagerated the second problem.

2. Understeer in all the wrong places, specifcally the kink and the final sweeper. Trying to balance this out with ARB at the moment.

3. Still trying to find the sweet spot on brakes. Locks up quick on the wheel and you can't trail brake (well, I can't) with the wheel, either.

4. I am losing most of my time on the sweeper. I can get the car set in the corner but then I can't do much with it.

Current time with the Do Luck 58.853

This came with -.9 camber F/R, 29 psi F/R. I haven't found anything better. I get pretty even heat on the outside tires. As usual, the DOTs are not heating up more than high 160s.

I am going to try opening up the diffs in a minute. I think that might help with the braking. I also need to do something with second/third gear. Second is to high for the sweeper while third seems too low. I plan on shorter second and third.

Made the above changes. Moved 2nd 10 clicks to the right and 3rd 7 clicks. Set the diffs at 40%, which was a SWAG. Set brake power to 90%.

58.565

Thanks for the clarifications guys.  Check the list in the first post and make sure I've got it right.

Nice time in the Do-Luck DD!

Wondered where you were, Rowdy.

Blooze hasn't set a time limit on this one but it won't be less than a week, I bet.

Do you need an NSX?

What's a DOT tire worth? A full half second on Tsukuba, that's what! I ran 3 different cars with Y rated vs. DOT and all were a .5 or more slower!

I gave up race brakes and a couple of other parts to get the widest tires on the Do-Luck. Could be a 58 flat in there.

Really?  Hmm...I've got Goodyear slicks on mine my 97 Acrua right now.  I may have to give the DOTs a try, but not till I have a chance to exhaust that build.  Should I add a column for tire class?  Could be interesting to track.

The 97?  I dunno, I put them on before I did anything else.  I did put on front and rear aero parts and that lowered my PI.  No engine mods and the only weight reduction I have is the hood.  Wait, the top available tire compound are racing slicks right?  I'm not crazy am I?
