Just skimmed through the Paint shop forum and remembered this plug-in that I saw used on another board. Could be useful as it compresses posted images to a set maximum size, obliterating annoying horizontal scroll bars.
Apparently that feature is included in SMF, according to
this post.
admin > features & options > Max width of posted pictures (0 = disable)
admin > features & options > Max height of posted pictures (0 = disable)
