The idea was to emulate the SCCA scheme of the car in the OP...

Here's the paints that were published during the Challenge.   Many cars were posted with one or more views...  you may want to check them in the original thread - I am just showing the closest to a profile that was posted.

I think that is all of 'em.  If I missed somebody, gimme a holler.

Looking through these as I built this post - Great Job once again everybody.

And congrats to Land for topping the leader board.  I wasn't surprised at all - I've been seeing his top 100 times in D class all week...  :-\

Not only did he "win" the challenge but he was the first ever winner of the Spanky's Speedshop "Guess the Paint" competition by finding out that the origin of the GS paint scheme.  His prize was a free copy of the GS pictured above.  More details in Spanky's section.

It is from a sticker sheet that was originally used on a Tamiya R/C Buggy entitled "The Grasshopper".  It was a 2wd off-road buggy with a little 380 motor in it.  It just happened to be the first radio controlled car that I used to race when I was a pup.

It was followed up by a similar but re-bodied Grasshopper 2.  This was a real good car that I succesfully raced in an indoor carpet series using foam tires instead of knobbies.  It was a hotrod with a 540 motor and the ability to run a ball bearing differential.  The only week spot was the lower A-Arm/Coil-Over suspension.  On the carpet it was prone to damage in even minor bumps with cars as well as the track borders.  It held its own against the very early Bolink pan cars which is a feat considering this was considerably heavier and taller than the competition.

After that season I moved on to the AWD R/C segment and the extra heft and quirky drivetrains had me wrenchin in the pits more than I was racin.  I recently built an HPI RS4 (not the Audi) AWD Sedan.  I ran a few races at a local road/oval track with mixed results.  Always a battery guy I never got into the Nitro scene.  I have the wagon as a toy now and I'd much rather be in the seat than behind a remote.

Got to admit that I like the simplicity of Bimmerlover's 'Vette. Tough choice there, there's some damn good designs on here.

I just wanted to say that this was a very tough choice for me.  I would be happy seeing any of the contenders win this challenge.  I think all the cars look great!

Awwww, I thought I'd guessed the origin of the paint first! He must've pm'd it before I posted my guess in your liveries thread.

At least I'm not the only one who spent way to much time and money on the RC scene about 20 years ago!

My dirt/carpet warrior was a Team Losi JRX-2. I still marvel at the extremely tough 5 link rear suspension design (5 links per side, comparable to what's commonly called a 'multi-link' setup today). The pan cars just ran away from me. The old Bo-Link eliminator was the top dawg at the carpet tracks around here, at least for 1/10th scale. The 1/12 scale was dominated by Team Associated's RC12 IIRC.

I run the paint guessing competition in my garage.  I saw your guess in the Liver section but landstuhltaylor had the answer in really early.  I'll have to find something a bit more difficult for the next go-round.

Just to re-itterate.  My "Guess the Paint" competition will be run along side of the normal MI challenges but will be posted and conducted over in Spanky's Speedshop.  Its not a part of the normal challenge or in any way a prize for "winning" a challenge, just my own little design competition.  In the future I'll refrain from posting pics in more than one place until someone guesses correctly.  Look forward to a more challenging scheme next time, I've been diggin pretty deep.
