That's a nice looking paint job Fit.  What is the deal with the Comics/Forza project?  Some sort of contest?  (not a twitterator :( )

Open was looking for us to have grassroots/local sponsors on the Improved Touring cars to set the atmosphere.  Since I'm in the local comic book store almost every week I threw together a livery and told the owner about it.  He hopped on board and after enough races to grab some pics and a couple of static shots he's doing a write-up and posting it on their website.  Great group of guys run that shop and they love gaming as well.  Seemed like a good fit and its working out.  I get a little discount, they get a little exposure, and everyone is happy.

I know not everyone reads comics but I race with a couple guys that have kids so instilling superhero's to them promotes reading and imagination so I'm on board with keeping them alive in a digital age.  It just wouldn't be the same to have comics on a digital device.  No smell of fresh ink, no stained fingers, no staying up late with a flashlight to see if Superman finally defeats Bizarro or if Batman gets to the bottom of Jokers plot.  Where would I be if I hadn't read Daredevil and learned of all the things he did while blind!  Good stuff.

Recently I've been reading the actual books, like novels, that the comic authors have written.  They aren't about DC or Marvel characters but they are published under their copyright and don't always appear on Amazon or B&N for me to buy so I can support their work while picking up a copy of Batman & Robin for my 6 year old and the latest edition of Cars for my youngest.

Comics are the gateway to all sorts of creativity, reading skills, visual storytelling, and the higher thinking to remember where the story is going month after month.

Besides, I'm a giant geek and combining comics and video games is close to nerd-vana.

Batman: Hush, Long Halloween, & Knightfall are personal faves.  As are Green Lantern: Secret Origin & Death/Return of Superman. HUGE Green Arrow fan.

My absolute favorite is Daredevil.  I used to have so many issues of Daredevil as a kid that I'd kill to have them all back again.  Luckily they bundle back issues into graphic novels and I can read back issues that way cheaper than seeking out originals.  So far his regenesis has been great!

My Marvel picks would have to be:
Daredevil
Uncanny X-Men
Secret Avengers

I've also been sucked into the New 52.  Not all of them just these:
Batman
Batgirl
Nightwing
Birds of Prey
Suicide Squad
Penguin: Pride and Predjudice
Supergirl
Voodoo
I, Vampire

Some of them are downright amazing and I can't wait for the next issue to come out and continue the story line.

I also pick up the smaller publishers and there have been great 4-5 issue stories that are really good, even a few tie-ins to upcoming games.  I've recently enjoyed:
Finder by Carla Speed McNeil (Out of the ordinary and very very worth reading, several collections)
Spontaneous.  5 issues, done in watercolor, very good story.
Echo by Terry Moore.  If you missed it, you missed it.  Get the whole TPB and clear a weekend.
Rachel Rising by Terry Moore.  Ongoing and so far is setting up to be really good.
Severed. 7 issue horror story with enough twists and turns to keep your stomach in knots.
Mass Effect. 3 seperate tie in series that are great for backstory on Aria, Illusive Man, and Cerberus.
Fatale. New and even with just two issues out is a good throw back horror/mystery.
Jennifer Blood. If you get passed the racy covers the story is really good, hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.
Lady Mechanika.  For the steampunk fan in all of us.  Excellent art but it comes out every 3 months.
Executive Assistant.  If you like kick ass women and interconnected books get these.  I liked them all.  Iris, Orchid, Violet, Rose, yup they are all named after flowers.
Dollhouse.  A continuation of the Joss Whedon TV series that was short lived.  Zombies meets Outbreak with a bit of a sci-fi escort service thrown in. Sound strange? Just look at who wrote it.  Good though.

There are also a couple decent Star Wars series from Dark Horse that are good.  I picked up Knights Errant, which was okay, and Dawn of the Jedi so I could see where they came from.

Whew, I guess I have more than I though.  Since they all come out on staggered weeks I never thought of the stack as that big before.  At least the short series stop and start instead of having a huge list of ongoing stories to keep up on.  Luckily I get a decent discount and get out fairly cheap with a couple odd issues thrown in for the kids to read as well.

I don't read comics, but if I did I would have to read Walking Dead.  My buddy at work keeps me up to date on the differences between the comics and the TV show.  I like the show so far.  I hope it continues to be good.

There is an entire shelf dedicated to Walking Dead at CCX.  If I ever get to the point that I need  series to pick up I'll likely get on board and start at the beginning.  Who doesn't love a good Zombie story!

It is strange to see how many novels, TV shows, movies, and even internet series are intertwined with comic books.  All forms of media translate to graphic novels it seems.
