Pinto!
« on: January 04, 2012, 11:16:03 AM »
Last night, Bimmer and I decided to take the Pintos out on the track.  It was a lot like my first experience listening to Phillip Glass; I went in expecting to enjoy it ironically, but ended up having a lot of fun.  We upgraded them to the top of F with even more grip, keeping the power low, and ended up with two lightweight, RWD, VERY drivable cars.  Bimmer even (accidentally) came up with a pretty good paint job.  I have no idea whether they're competitive in F (or any other class), but they were certainly fun.  Plus, the car is cheap ($5k, and I'm guessing most of us have free Ford parts at this point).  Anyway, I'll probably take a break from Skyrim today and run some Pinto rooms if anyone's interested.

I ran one stock on the Ring in a one lap race against the AI yesterday.  I'm not sure adding grip would have been my first choice for upgrades  ;)  The stock car is a bit under powered, to put it mildly, but seems to handle ok.  BTW, my one lap from a standing start and fighting through the AI cars took just a tick over 12 minutes.  Flat out on the long uphill straight(ish) portion it would only maintain mid-70s mph.  Kind of fun though.  My best friends mom had one of these fine vehicles back when I was in middle school.

the Focus swap makes it a fiesty little track car and upgrading the stock engine to about 150 gives you plenty of room to build a nice D Class car, as well.
