There I was again all beaten up and broke and I could not figure out what is was about these worn-out, open all night dinners that made me stop by whenever I was in the need to really think things trough. I was just about to light a smoke, when I realized that there was no ashtrays and I also noticed that I was the only customer here right now, so I tried to get eye-contact with the waitresses to call her over.
Jack : Hey, I have a question.
Waitresses : Refill?
Jack : Yes please. But I was going to ask you if you would be so kind and look the other-way while I take a smoke to sweeten the taste of your coffee.
Waitresses : *Laugh* Go ahed cowboy at this hour theres nobody here anyway, I’ll get you an ashtray.
So I took a sip of coffee and continued my previous quest of lighting the cigarette. While I was doing this I started to go through the event in the past days that had lead up to me parking my ass here and it all begun with that phone-call from ”Shank”.
Shank : But..Jack at least hear me out, this is bulletproof and if I remember correctly your still chasing that dream of going pro and this could really be the turning point for you financially.
Jack : Well as a matter of fact. Im in desperate need of cash since I might need to bribe a couple of guys to get my car in the FSRA Worldwide Exhibition. And if I get my foot in the door I will need a S**t-load of cash to transport my car to Japan. So this time you caught up with me at the right time, for me to actually consider any offer you might have.
Shank : Thanks! So heres the deal, by the way , do you still have that Dodge Dart...The Super Stock?
Jack : Yes of course I do, now get to the point.
Shank : Well this buddy of mine is running an import tuner shop down on fifth and he told me about these guys that have more money than brains..so to speak, but anyway they are running these races at an closed old airport just outside of town and my buddy told me theres allot of cash flowing around.
Jack : Wait a minute...I don't have the cash to make the bets. So we..
Shank : I have it all figured out. They don't run it like your used to, the strips just about the same 1/4 mile but they run it in eight lanes. So we run them for pinks...they will never back out of that, to much prestige involved, when it comes to an old classic vs their modern rice cookers. Shit..they will never know what hit them and according to my buddy most of them drive hybrids and he told me that nowadays he was spending most of his time installing sound-systems. He dont keep speedparts on the shelf anymore, theres no demand for it...can you believe it..they actually have television sets in their cars. He also offered to buy any car you win for at least 10k. Thats at least 70K a run Jack.
Jack : I hear you thats a lot of cash, but they will probably only run the old Dart once and the Dart have a retail price of 350k so I...
Shank : ...Yes, Yes but we both know that you got it for free.
Jack :I have to think about this, it almost sound to good to be true, don't you think?
Shank : How long do you need to think about it, its like stealing candy from a child and this will be like that dude from England in the green tights, you know who I mean..taking from the rich and giving to us, they will just ask their dads for a new car..and I already took the deliberately to sign you up.
Jack : You did what!
Shank : So I will see you on Friday?
Jack : Ill be there..and thanks..I think.
