The Hunt for The Javelin Slayer
« on: November 15, 2011, 06:57:48 PM »
Phantom's already on this...
I began looking in earnest last night...

There has to be one in-game somewhere.

Why seek it out?  Because that Javelin has to go down...  ;D

Still working on the Delta (passively, Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary just came out, so I'm a little busy killing Covenant and Flood at the moment), and I think I have another one or two that might work. The Alfa Romeo GTA shows promise, as does the Lancia 037. The Stratos was a tad off pace sadly.

How is the Halo remake?

I'm thinking the Nissan S30Z will probably be able to keep up with the AMX, but are you trying to build the Slayer in the same manner, i.e. street legal?

It's a better looking version of Halo with coop via live, so basically it's perfect. Multiplayer is piggybacked on Reach, like what ODST did with Halo 3. I just hit the Flood levels, so how these levels play will define what I think of it more.

And I was building a car any way possible to beat the AMX.

This. The Javelin doesn't play fair.

Well, I have a short list of cars that MAY compete, though their setups are still up in the air. these are the 107-capable cars around Infineon Long:

Lancia 037
'69 Fairlady
'99 Civic Si
MR-S
Peugeot 107
Citroen C1
Lotus Elan
'94 Civic
Trueno
Alfa Romeo GTA
Fiat 131
Suzuki Liana
Lancia Delta

These cars are the best place to start. If I find cars that are most likely done using the NA conversion, I will make note of it.

My Trueno has a 0.974g rating and I couldn't best my Javelin time with it.  Just sayin.
Go sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here.

Good grief. Surely it's possible... right? I mean, is the AMX the Les Miles of FM4? Like no matter how much you try, you can't beat it, and it makes absolutely no sense for it to be as good as it is?

I think the short wheel base of the Toyota added unnecessary oversteer to the car on Infineon.  That car is stable as all hell on Suzuka but was a bit bouncy on Infineon.  I'd be willing to bet a slightly longer car would be a better bet.

It's possible, supposedly. Those cars are pulled from the leaderboard, so someone got them to be fast enough. I don't know, I haven't had the best of luck with it today.

Good luck on the quest.  Here's to finding that "unicorn!"

Even if I found something 2 seconds faster I don't think I could drive it well enough to beat the AMX.  I can't drive the AMX that fast either, for that matter.

I've yet to find it.  May have to Missile-ify an Alfa Romeo or Fiat.  Maybe a '71 Nissan.

Who am I kiddin'?

It ain't happening. The AMX is like M. Bison on Street Fighter II. :-\

Yeah, yeah, yeah...   ;)

The spirit of the whole thing was more for an ANTI-Javelin. Like non-muscle car.

Don't you judge me.
