The poor kid traded his factory 20th Anniversary wheels plus $200 for the wheels then had to buy 4 new tires.  The AMG wheels are a set that a customer left here when we swapped out his winter wheels and he never came back.  The owner would probably have sold them for about the same price to free up the shelf space.  He still would have had the rear wheel stagger but the wheels would have matched the car a bit better IMO.

We have a fender roller here, no ghetto baseball bat rolling!!  It gets used quite a bit with all of the Dub guys and even a few cambered out Honda's that roll through.  Our alignment rack is flush with the shop floor so we get a fair amount of lowered cars that won't fit on the above ground racks most shops have.
Go sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here.

Is that the stock rear bumper for that GTI?  The arch kind of... flies away from the wheel on the rear.  Looks kind of funny, at least with those wheels.

I think it would look better if the car were raised somewhere between 1-2 inches.  With such substantial and large wheels the car looks very much slammed.  (Which is probably what the owner likes, but it's not my thing.)

Tricked out VW Jetta Wagon TDI swung by today.  I thought it looked a little low out in the parking lot.  Its in so I can have a look at the airbags and try to permanently attach them to the rear perches.  This thing drags frame if you put it all the way down.  Oh, those are factory Volvo wheels on it, they look better than the Chevy wheels if you ask me.

I think it looks best at the higher ride height.  I couldn't get the lowered car out of my own garage!

It won't even move when its lowered all the way down.  It literally sits on the frame rails.  It has be be at least half way up before we can get it out of our shop.  Craziness.

I must admit that I don't get that look which says "Right, I've spent all my money on big fat rims but can't afford proper tyres so have stretched them to fit". Surely it must impair handling as well, or are the tyres especially made to have rounded sidewalls?

The tires are bought specifically to stretch onto a wide rim but they aren't made to fit like that.  The radiused sidewalls help clear the fenders while allowing the wheel to poke out a bit.  The cars that have tires like that tend to run a ton of pressure, 40+, to keep the rim from dragging while turning.  I think it's ridiculous but whatever.

It really sucks trying to mount a 195mm tire on a 10 inch rim!!!

I've heard varying tales of ride quality with super stretched rubber.  Some people claim the sidewalls are more stiff with stretch, and a personal friend of mine claims that the few times he's done it, the car felt really sloppy.  I'm more inclined to believe the latter, myself.
