Bias Tuning Calculator
« on: October 12, 2007, 03:57:37 PM »
Attached is a spreadsheet I use to calculate the suspension settings based on Blooze's 54.5% bias theory.  It also allows you to change the bias percentage to anything you want.

This performs the calcs as I understand them from reading through the posts so hopefully I have it correct  ;)

Edit: Sheet now contains the original bias values per request of Blooze.

That looks pretty good John!  It can be pretty handy when cruising the car stats and checking the Bias.

One thing you might consider adding, perhaps in the Column D/E area under the altenative Bias, is the Bias of the entered values - one for each component; springs, ARB, and Rebound dampers.  It can be pretty useful to see what the actual Bias is compared to the published one.

How do you get a spreadsheet locked down like that?  I've gone looking for it but it looked like it was going to take passwords and such and be a pain so I didn't mess with it.

To unlock the sheet just turn off protection.  Using a password is optional so just leave it blank and you won't need one.  On the current version of Excel "protection" is on the review menu.  To allow a particular cell to be enterable when you turn on protection you need to right click on the sheet and choose "format cells" then select the "protection" tab and make sure "locked" is NOT checked for the cells you want to be enterable.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by the original bias.  Do you mean the original relation between the front/rear for each item that you enter (springs, arb, dampers)?  Edit: I just re-read your post and it seems pretty clear this is what you mean.

I added the original bias numbers to the sheet.  The new version is attached to the origianal post.

I added this to the sticky up front.  If you come up with a new version just flag me down and I will replace the one in the pinned post.

Thanks

Updated "Blooze Toon" spreadsheet calculator.

To support variations on the standard Blooze Toon I added the following optional entries to the calculator:

1) % Increase in spring rates
2) % Increase in ARB values
3) % Increase in damper values

So, for example, if you want to run a basic Blooze toon but want to use 10% stiffer spring and 5% stiffer ARBs than stock the calculator can now handle those calculations for you.

I may be able to give my actual calculator a break with this loaded.  Thanks TNJ.  I have a whole sheet of paper with random numbers on it that only I know where they go.  I may actually be.........organized  :o

Blooze - Is all the theory behind your wb theory in the old "Bench Racing with Blooze" thread at the Forza site? Or did you continue the discussion after you moved?

Thanks,

Larry

The initial speculation stuff is over in the "Bench Racing..." thread.

I re-iterated some of it in this forum's "Manipulate the Wb" thread.

The thing is still in a state of flux.  Right now, it is just used for the initial setup.  I may or may not keep the ARB in sync now, where I was forcing the issue with it.

Read thru the Wb thread and see if you still have questions.

Tonka Toon Update.

This is a new version of my Blooze Toon spreadsheet.  This sheet is intended for those who want a simplified version of the tuning sheets (simple compared to Blooze's full Car Sheet or Tonka's Kitchen Sink) as it contains only the info you need to calculate the basic toon.

Changes:

The Blooze Toon portion is unchanged.
I have added a new sheet based on the latest and greatest Tonka Toon calculations being discussed in the forum.

Blooze, can you update the official spread sheet thread with this new version, thanks.

Also, I should add, all intelligence in this sheet comes from Blooze and Tonka.  I'm just providing a simple package for the hard work they have done.

Edit: The tool is located in the Spreadsheet Archive pinned to the top of the page; Blooze

Okay, I added it to the Archive - I am going to delete the attachment above so that folks have to go to the archive to get it.

I haven't had a chance to look at it yet.  I imagine it is another excellent job!

I just noticed a typo in the "Tips" section.  Actually makes me laugh but I'm weird that way.  It says "Too stiffen the suspension..."  instead of "To stiffen the suspension..."  Sort of gives the opposite meaning.  Oh well no big deal.
