Online Races September 29, 2007 GMT friendly!
« on: September 27, 2007, 02:07:48 PM »
In the interest of providing an event inclusive of our members around the globe, I would like to propose an informal online race for September 29th, at 9pm GMT (4pm EST, 3pm CST). If you are available to race at the proposed time, please respond below. Racing will last at least one hour on the following tracks:

Diamondback (Muscle Inc Specs) 7 laps
Laguna Seca (Muscle Inc Specs) 7laps
Sebring Club (Muscle Inc Specs) 10 laps
Maple Valley Short (FCT B-Class) 10 laps
Maple Valley Short Reverse (FCT B-Class) 10 laps

I will be availavle to host these races for at least the first hour and possibly longer. If attendance warrants, we'll run two rooms which means we'll need someone to captain the second room. (volunteers?) Number of laps per track subject to change.

If you are an international player, this event is intended to include you. If you would like to suggest a time other than the one posted above, you are welcome to do so.

Glad you had a good time - I really enjoyed it too.  ;D That half lap of side by side at Maple Valley was my highlight of the night, even if you will probably remember the black Camaro outbraking iteself at Sebring more. ::)

I can't believe that I distracted you with a plain-jane white Challenger ;D

That two wide run through Maple was great. So was chasing that Volvo that had wandered into the room...

Volvo  ??? I must have been going blind by that stage :-\

The race after you left, me 'n' Rollin took the 2000GT's out at Diamondback. That setup I had (from the FCT Challenge) may have run-out of steam over the start line of Maple valley but it rocks at Diamondback - managed to get into the top 200 there which cheered me up after all the defeats I had last night  ;) I could feel the adrenalin kicking in when the racing was close but when I looked at the scoreboards today I couldn't beleive how fast we were going.

That was some seriously nice racing on your part..

That challenger had me hypnotised @ Sebring, totally stuffed it into the turn, stupid, stupid.  Chasing the Blooze-mobile around in my Solstice was fun too.  I have to tune that car a bit, obviously.  I can't for the life of my remember why I put it in A-class, oh wait for the A-class hotlap challenge a few weeks ago.

Racing online really highlights the weaknesses of my cars.  I have to get crackin on MVR in my 914 if I'm ever to catch ole hoplee.  However I think I could have taken you at Mugello.  It wouldn't have been pretty but I had a few good looks and a run or two.  Still chasing the elusive 1:59:999.  Also getting closer to the 1:29:999 mark on Laguna in my CTS-V.  If I can get that heavy pig around there in under 90 seconds I'll have achieved a personal goal at least.  By the way that Volvo driver was all over the place at times ad seemed to be blocking a bit, I had a run on him in the begining of LagSec but I broke when he fired that car across the hood of my Caddy.  At least I thought I had completed the pass.

I had a great time even though it was short lived.  Can't wait to see how Tuesday goes.   Should be fun for all that can make it.

Fit: Looks like you've got some understeer there, Hop

Hop: Nope, trying to remember how to drive AWD!

The BBB VIS Integra didn't seem like it was going that fast because I was fighting the AWD system, but after the dust cleared it had the fastest time in the room. Props to Blooze, but I still have an irrational hatred of Integras  ::)

Sorry if we're confusing you here Spiny, I got on and ran some races with Fit about 8 hours after we got done with business. Did Rollin tell you anything about his 2000GT setup? He's got at least two that are devastatingly quick.

I need to give it a good hard run.  It'd give me something for my Scoobies to target.  Lol.

He didn't kick it Blooze he tried to drive it THROUGH my Solstice.  I'm slowing down as some people do for 90 degree turns and *Kapow* off I go into a tire wall at a high rate of speed.  It appeared that I had been Old Schooled.  Up until then I was behind the Integra and I noticed that Hoplee tended to understeer exiting turns, either due to driving or possibly a minor suspension adjustment.  Most likely the first, as Blooze has history.  It was a quick little car but I had a bit of speed on it but not enough to get a real clean pass on Sebring Short.  I didn't think it was AWD as I have a mental defect prohibiting me form assuming anyone would volunteer to drive one of those.  FWD I can deal with, RWD I prefer but AWD, I see enough of them during the day. (I hate adjusting my driving style to accomodate them.)

I don't remember driving through a Solstice. ;D

Honestly, the understeer is something I would definitely blame on the driver more than the tune. Also, Sebring Club is the track we were on. I'll try it against anyone, but I've also been working on an A-Class Porsche 959 and an A-Class 1984 Magnum PI style Ferrari. Seems like I've got a couple of cars fightiing for track time in A-Class.

I've heard that FWD has a hard time competing in A-Class. If so, it may become my new favorite class! Knowing that there's no way a RWD car can catch a FWD car on grip tracks in B-Class is frustrating. Anyone out there racing FWD in the higher classes care to comment?
