Now I'll try to stop hijacking Blooze's shop, and put up one about this car over here. Like a lot of you, I found this car to be a real handful when it was fully built up (all parts added, including lightest wheels possible). I tested and tuned for a good hour to get these set-ups. I don't think there's a lot more to do with the suspension as any changes in either direction just seem to make the car worse. I've actually got two set-ups for this, a high downforce tune (this one) and a low downforce tune which feels similar but has a bit higher top speed and a bit less ultimate grip (although oddly it doesn't have as much snap oversteer). So, here's the tune:

Tyres: 27.5/27.026.5/26.0
FD: 3.06
1-6: 2.38, 1.82, 1.44, 1.16, 0.97, 0.87
Camber: -1.0/-0.7
Toe: 0/-0.2 (this is the only car so far I've felt the need to add any toe on)
Caster: 5.0
ARBs: 14.70/12.30
Springs: 595.5/828.0 (softening the rear springs any more just made it worse)
Ride height: 3.6/3.6
Rebound: 10.6/6/5
Bump: 6.1/3.2 (tried to reduce the on/off oversteer by reducing the rear damper settings)
Aero: 300/579 (because I was getting high speed twitch oversteer, this change worked really well)
Brake balance: 49% F (to stop the back end coming around under braking, I usually have it set to 46% =/-1%
Diff: 30/12 (v.low as the back end kept trying to break free under acceleration)

1st gear is pretty useless, you need to short shift to 2nd pretty early then it will take off. As I said, this is as good as I could get this car. Please feel free to use this as much as you want, and if you find somethiing that works better please let me know because this is still a way from being perfect. But it is at least a big improvement on the stock tune.

Ran this in one of the R2 weekend races last night, and it struck me that it really struggled for grip after about 3-4 laps of a full-length circuit (such as Sedona). I also noticed that pressures was getting up towards 32psi, higher than my aimed for range of 30-31psi when warm.

 So, I dropped a psi off the tyre pressures - the car is now much more stable, especially on long runs. Strange thing is though that it doesn't feel any worse on cold tyres than it did at the higher pressures. Add to that that the rears are now around 206 degrees rather than 214 like they were at 27psi cold, and I feel it has improved a lot just from that one small change. Not sure how I missed that first time around though.

My stab at bringing the beastie under control was timid to say the least.

I reset the tuning settings, then...

• air to 28.5 / 2830
• alignment to -1.0, 0.8, 0.0, 0.1, and 5.1
• brakes were to .48% and 104
• diffs were set to 32 and 12

That's it, and with that, I set out to tackle what I will heretofore refer to as "The Sixteen Rings of Hell"   The car ended up handling quite well, and it seemed that I was able to toss it about as needed to try to stay alive on that idiot damned track.  On lap eleven I hung a pile of tires (can't see for crap) and tore the heck out of my car.  But I wasn't starting over - no siree.   I managed to fight severly buggered steering to pull off the win.

My next test will be to try a 46 Sb build with inverse shocks.  Initial run on the Sunset Oval seems promising...

Nice to see that at least some of my settings are similar to what works for someone else. I'm especially surprised at your diff settings being so close to mine as I though mine were way out of the normal ball park. Just goes to show that even little things can surprise you.

One question I do have regards the tyres. I found a significant improvement in performance on longer stints by reducing my pressures from 27ish to 26ish, yet you are getting good results from 28ish Do you get traction issues after a few laps, or is it my driving style which is causing my problems?
