Not really the same as buying a car but since I was faced with an R3 race in career but no R3 car I updated the Viper ACR with the Dodge stock car engine, removed the restrictors, and increased the rear tire width.  For not that many bucks I ended up with a pretty fast R3 mobile.

When faced with the same choice I found the Letterman/Rahal BMW on the auction house for a $25,000 buyout.  Ran it up to level 5 and auctioned it off for 150,000 after getting the gifted one in game.

So do leveled up cars go for a premium on the ah?  In FM2 I made a lot of money by just selling select models of bone stock region locked cars to people, I assume, in other regions.  Since there is no region locking in FM3 that little business no longer exists.

Why would someone buy a level 5 car?  Is there any advantage?  Don't you just lose the advantage of GAINING the levels, and thus the 10% discounts?
Don't make me go get my Bentley Hummer!

It was last year, and I think it is this time as well - the buyer gets the discounts, the seller looses them.  They stay with the car.  That is why, in order to achieve the 50% discount of any item, you must have all 5 cars from a manufacturer leveled up and in your garage.  Not out of the rhelm of reason when it comes to Chevy or Porsche - I got five of them already (I think).  But Citreon!?  Or Bently!??  Or Land Rover?!!!!@

Pretty safe to say that there is one achievment that will go unachieved... A 50% discount on every part in the game.  By my count there are 53 Manufacturers - so...   ::) 3 x 5 is 15 carry the one...  Got it!  265!!

265 cars all run out to level 5...  and some of the most hideous repeats you could ever imagine.

Cool FD!!  I'll keep ya in mind for when the time comes - I'm not quite ficks-ally flush forza speaking right now...  see, I went down to the Saleen dealer to get me an S7 cause I was thinkin' I might need it and I could afford it somewhat, and, well see they has this pickup there that is the exact same color as the car I was buying...

I couldn't he'p m'self...  :-[

:) $

Oh yeah, if anybody wants to borrow a Lambo LP640 for that factory spec race, I have one for lend...

And for more buyin' cars problems... I decided today I want to own all of the Forza MotorSport Cars.  I know of three right now - the Fairlady Z, the Aston Martin, and the Audi R8.  If there is another on, I'll probably want it... sure hope they don't put that design and a damned SUV.

Same goes for me.. I plan to obtain every car available (not quite there yet ;)) and If I can help someone to get the achievement or do some stock races with a car you don't care about, I'm willing to help out.

The auctionhouse still seems to be a good way to obtain cars for less. I tend to bid on cars I want, who start out at something like 70/80% of the dealer price. The real cheap ones usually go into bidding wars who end up higher then the dealer price. Picked up quite a few bargains this way, without any effort at all. :)

That's pretty much how I've been doing it as well too, although I'll bid on anything which is below the dealer price. I tend to go for a maximum of 5 cars at a time though so I can remember the dealer price and avoid overpaying.

Quick question, does anyone know if the "+" cars (Aveo+, Yaris+, Versa+ and Fit+) are available in the AH if you didn't start with them. I've been searching the AH for them since a couple of days after launch but have yet to see one - am I wasting my time?

Oh, and Blooze, if you're after the FM cars there's an FM1 NSX available too - just not sure if it's a Honda or an Acura off the top of my head.

Heh, yeah - I have that one in the Shoppe too, and I am after it.  It's and R3 Acura and looks like it will bump up to the mid 700s or so - could be fun...  However, its a blue looking thing instead of the orange and white of the others.

Oops, I just accidentally bought it...  :-\

I need to get back on my horse and replenish the larder - 'bout to dip below a meg.

So what did you think, Blooze?  I love my Ram.  It's not the most competitive...er, car around, but it's fun to drive, and really sticks out in a crowd of itty bitty Audis.

BMC, I upgraded my Pickup to B500 and now it is a screamy beast, with serious need of some transmission work (you're right - long gears.  Fifth and Sixth are useless.)  I am going to run my regimine with it (QR and all) just to see where it sets.

Part of my plan is to paint the truck and the S7 with identical "California Kid" type paint jobs and then get somebody to help me get them on the track together for a picture session.

Did I mention, they're the same colour...  :-[

OK, we spent some time running the P333 vs. GT40 last night and tossing the daytona coupe around.  Wow.  That's several million I've already spent and I don't have yet.  lol

I bought the Mclaren f1 as my first expensive car. Not really because I wanted that car the most but I could get one from the auctionhouse for 3mil. It came with some useful parts as well so I saved about 1 mil. Haven't raced it, cause I'm not ready for s-class yet.

I ended up spending all of my money in the auctionhouse, mostly on cars I needed for career (stock races etc) and on cars I wanted anyway (muscle, porsche, bmw) (spent quite some money on race replica paintjobs on a a lot of cars as wel)

Currently @ 55% career, 132 cars, 47 mil. garage value with some small change in my pocket for upgrades  :D
