Landrover as 450c

Why! make the TGR Landrover?

Well I decided I want to set a benchmark time, as in FM2 I completed the all tracks all times hotlap and so with so many more tracks to do wanted to set a base time on all the tracks then slowly work my way through each and set respectable times.
A car that should not work seemed a great idea.

Landrover aim one sidwinder tracks. Blind fiddling has made the big yellow bus with bling wheels. (loving the way you can find paint now).
Two tracks one was boomslang ended up in top five ! shows how few people are doing the tracks not that the car is any good yet!

Softended the springs upped the damping changed the toe moved the caster much of the fiddling as fm2 but its horrible. So I am now going to be more sientific god and maybe learn how to tune.

Step two tba.

Sounds like you're going to be parallel to my plan of an X5 mongoose  ;D
It is highly likely that the above post was produced with a drippy jowl.

Well I have entered so well known tune figures from a famous game calculator and its off the scale. Never seen figures so high! See how that works.

I think the dodge ram is needed for another class for sure.. need to look at those car lists.

Maxster,

Just so you're aware. If you used Feuerdog's calculator you will want to double the spring values.

Still can't believe that a TGR Landie went around a corner without toppling over :D

Having worked with Land Rovers before I have a predetermination to avoid them if at all possible.
Except for the Defender 90, they are tolerable.

So if I attempt such an ill-fated hotlap adventure in oxymoronisisms(theres a new word for ya) it will be with my soon to be liveried Roto-Rooter plumbing truck based on one of the extended cab truck options we now have in FM3.

Im not sure about the springs, Had them set high dropped them back to 650ish and its much better. the thing weighs with reduction 4500lbs!

The thing about hotlapping at the moment and wandering through spinys back garden of the snake tracks a deceptive world ranking of 5 is the magic number  :D

Working on thoughts for a new paint job this car?bus requires dedicated Turbo Gary Paint!

The tune settings are off calculator more or less setting as soft ishh. works ok but funny enough it lacks grip!

Latest tweak remove any engine mods its still got 400bhp, Fit the widest race tyres. Unfortunatly fit the forza rear spoiler it looks rubbish. With a more realistic build this should allow a more refined settings.

Driving it in a lobby race is brilliant fun trying to get it into corners by flicking it into the direction as the corner approaches is fun but may shout very odd handling on reflection. need to read some rally school instructions maybe!

Maxster, I still can't get over those spring settings - they're softer than on my 3000lb Clio. There's no wonder you're rolling around and lacking grip. Still looking forward to my first 4x4 though ;)

Not sure how the Range Rover goes, but my A Class Shelby GT500 is sitting around 1000lbs front and rear and is about 3200lbs. I would say though that that car is for more flowing tracks than the snakes, but even so I'd take the Range Rover to 1000lbs and see how it feels (generally slightly softer springs for the twisty and rough tracks than the fast smooth ones).

Springs around 950 are working well. the "school bus" is now lapping at lobby times less about 0.5. Aero up to max tyres at max. With its 400bhp stock it makes up time between corners. Now have something to work from. Need to look out some guides for turn in etc

My ongoing personal calc revision testing indicates that a 4500lb vehicle with 50/50 weight dist. would be good with 950lb springs, and bump/rebound values of 5/9

I have yet to play with any cars in FM3 heavier than 3400lbs though, so this is just based on extrapolated theory at this point.

I begin indepth weight/spring testing tonight, so I won't even be able to confirm my own thoughts on this until probably tomorrow or saturday.

EDIT: A 3200lb car should be good with about 700lb springs.
Note: I've been altering my damper calcs too, so my springs may seem a little low.
